Jamshedpur: Scaling mountains in life and on foot, former DBMS English School student Nisha Anand has carved a remarkable path for herself—from the lanes of Jamshedpur to the summits of the world. Her recent conquest of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest peak, is yet another milestone in her adventurous journey—one that was set in motion during her school days in the Steel City.

It all began at DBMS English School, where her sports teacher Surojit Singh first spotted the spark. A young girl with a fearless streak, Nisha’s early love for exploration saw her making childhood treks to Gangotri and Uttarkashi. Her school excursions earned her medals and accolades, and above all, lit a fire within her for the unknown.

Her mother, Rajshree Anand fondly recalls Nisha’s unshakable composure even after a severe forehead injury at age six. “There was blood everywhere, but she didn’t shed a tear,” she says, pointing to the scar as a testament to her daughter’s courage. “She always had that euphoria after every daring act.”

Today, Nisha is not just an adventurer but also a multifaceted entrepreneur and a devoted mother. A resident of San Francisco, she runs Culture Room Boutique, a fashion studio known for blending South Asian aesthetics with modern design. Her creations serve clients from around the world, reflecting her creativity and cultural roots.

Her motherhood journey is equally inspiring. Her son, Ved, born a NICU baby, is now a healthy, spirited child—thanks to Nisha’s unwavering love and resilience. “She is a lioness,” her family says with pride, recalling the sacrifices she made during those fragile months.

In 2024, Nisha scaled the Everest Base Camp, a dream realized after months of disciplined training in San Francisco’s rugged terrain. Long walks before dawn, weekend treks, and a mind strengthened by sheer willpower prepared her for the icy Himalayan winds and steep climbs. Her family—especially her husband Keerthi and her supportive in-laws—stood like pillars, offering the motivation she needed.

Her next adventure was on a different continent altogether. Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world, was a test of both spirit and strength. With every step towards the summit, Nisha proved that mental and physical discipline are keys to transforming dreams into reality.

Speaking about her motivation, Nisha says, “Every climb, every trek is a reflection of life — tough, unpredictable, but deeply rewarding. The mountains have taught me that it’s not about reaching the top, it’s about who you become in the process.”

Nisha’s achievements are not just personal victories; they are a reflection of her upbringing in Jamshedpur, a city known for shaping well-rounded individuals. “There’s something in the air here,” her family says. “The Tata values, the emphasis on simplicity, ethics, and education—these shape children to chase excellence in every form.”
