Engineering remains first career choice of city toppers

Jamshedpur: Engineering seems to be the first career choice for toppers of CBSE ISC examination, results of which were announced here recently.

Despite various career opportunities emerging in the field of education, engineering still rules the roost among the students of the city. The toppers feel that engineering from premium institute that is Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is their only choice.

Ayush Kumar, a student of DAV Public School emerged as the city topper with 96.8 per cent in pour science. said he wanted to do engineering in either information technology or electronics. “I would also for IIT and would pursue “, he stated.

“I am interested in research and want to make a career either in the field of aeronautical engineering so I will appear for the IIT”, said Pratik Das, who scored 90 per cent marks in ISC “I used to study for two hours everyday and never excluded the fun part from the schedule.

I regularly watched TV and movies”, he revealed.

Ritwick Moitra of Hill Top School said it is a matter of pride for his parents. �Coming from technical background, I was inspired by the many toppers from my institution and this pushed me to be one among them. I would like to pursue my career in the field of electrical engineering�.

It may be mentioned here that the city has a fair track record of IIT. Every year more than 100 students crack the IIT entrance examination, which is considered to be toughest in the country. Moreover, Abhinav Kumar of Loyola School secured 1st All India rank during the 1996-1997.

Priya Kumari of Narbheram who scored 94.4 per cent said she believed in hard work and putting in structured, well-planned studies. �When I was in junior classes, I was not so serious.

But I sprung into action once I came into 8th standard,� she said. However, she has always aspired to be an aerospace engineer.

�I always wanted to be an engineer, and my ultimate aim is to work as aeronautical engineer,� she said.

Meanwhile, with the new pattern of examination in place from 2013, those who qualified from JEE Mains conducted by CBSE (earlier known as AIEEE) could only appear for JEE Advanced.

The results for JEE Advanced will be declared on June 18 while JEE Mains rankings will be declared on July 7. Results of board examination will also be considered with 40 per cent of weightage.
