Jamshedpur to experience dry and warm weather, temperatures Rise Above Seasonal Average
Jamshedpur: The State is set to experience dry weather over the next three days, according to the latest forecast issued by the Ranchi Met Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This weather pattern is expected to bring a slight rise in both minimum and maximum temperatures across the state.
Met statistics reveal that temperatures are on an upward trend, with most places in Jharkhand recording maximum temperatures above the normal limit. In the past 24 hours, the maximum temperature soared to 33.3 degrees Celsius in Jamshedpur while the minimum recorded was 15.2 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature was 36.4 degrees Celsius in Seraikela, while Chaibasa in neighbouring West Singhbhum recorded a high of 34.4 degrees Celsius.
Other regions across the state also reported temperatures above the seasonal average, indicating an unseasonably warm spell.
The minimum temperatures have shown a rising trend too. Ranchi and Jamshedpur both recorded minimum temperatures above 15 degrees Celsius, marking a noticeable departure from the usual chilly mornings of February.
Meanwhile, Daltonganj and Chaibasa saw minimum temperatures above 13 degrees Celsius, and Lohardaga recorded a minimum of 16 degrees Celsius. Despite the warming trend, Gumla reported the state’s lowest minimum temperature at 9.6 degrees Celsius.
Today’s satellite images revealed the presence of a Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation over Jammu and Kashmir at 3.1 km above the mean sea level. Although this system is active in the northern parts of the country, it is unlikely to impact the weather in Jharkhand significantly, thus ensuring the continuation of the dry spell.
With dry conditions and rising temperatures expected to prevail, residents might experience warm days and relatively mild nights. The mercury levels are likely to remain above normal, particularly in urban areas like Jamshedpur, Ranchi, and Daltonganj, where the impact of urban heat is more pronounced.
The dry spell could also affect agricultural activities, especially in regions that rely on residual soil moisture for Rabi crops. Farmers are advised to monitor crop conditions and take necessary precautions to safeguard against potential heat stress.
Health experts recommend the public to: Stay hydrated to combat the warm temperatures. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours. Wear light and breathable clothing to stay comfortable. Monitor weather updates for any sudden changes.
With the IMD’s forecast indicating no immediate signs of rainfall or significant weather changes, Jharkhand is likely to continue experiencing dry and warm conditions in the coming days. This weather pattern is not unusual for February but is certainly a reminder of the changing climate dynamics in the region.
