Jamshedpur, Aug 22: Assistant Commercial Manager (ACM) of Chakradharpur Rail Division Vinit Kumar Monday said a dropping line facility for vehicles had been started at Tatanagar railway station with immediate effect. This facility would also be available at Rourkela, Ranchi and other railway stations of the division, he said.
The ACM, addressing a press conference here, said the new facility would help reduce crowding near the dropping line outside the railway stations. Many people go to the station to drop their relatives and park their vehicle at the dropping line. It is seen that the visitors take too long to come back and remove their vehicle, thereby causing a jam near the dropping line. In order to prevent this, a system of charging parking fee on parking vehicles for more than five minutes has been started, he said.
“An electric slip would be given to the visitors on entering the dropping line. Initially, five to seven minutes would be given to visitors for dropping passengers. For exceeding permissible time limit, the visitors will have to pay Rs 24 for cars, Rs 18 for auto-rickshaw and Rs 12 for motorcycles and Rs 6 for bicycles,” said Raghuvansh Kumar, Director, Tatanagar railway station, who was also present at the press conference.
