Jamshedpur, Aug 22: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav inaugurated a special mega camp for the transgender community at Dhatkidih Community Centre on Mondawy.
The benefits of as many as 14 welfare schemes were extended to the transgenders today. Identity cards, Aadhar cards, ration cards, voter ID and health check facility were provided to them. The DC informed those present about various welfare schemes being run for them in the district. She assured them of getting a separate toilet built for transgenders in the city.
A Moohjuthi proramme for the newly-born children was also organized today. The DC and transgenders performed the ritual of giving first food to the children.
The transgenders thanked the DC for organizing the camp. They said they were long demanding that such camp be held in the city.
