Over 12,000 Fans Enjoy Stadium-Like Atmosphere, Fun Activities at Agrico Ground
Jamshedpur, April 19: Cricket fever gripped the city as thousands of fans gathered at the Agrico Transport Ground on Sunday for the IPL Fan Park organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with more than 12,000 spectators turning up to watch live screenings of exciting IPL matches on a giant screen.
The thrill of matches, including Kolkata Knight Riders versus Rajasthan Royals at Eden Gardens and Kings XI Punjab taking on Lucknow Super Giants at New Chandigarh, was clearly visible among fans in Jamshedpur. The entire ground was transformed into a stadium-like venue, complete with seating arrangements and a lively atmosphere. Fans stayed till late at night, cheering every four and six with great enthusiasm.

Fun Activities Add to the Excitement
Apart from live match screenings, several fun activities were organized for visitors. Youngsters showed keen interest in batting against a bowling machine, where balls were delivered at speeds of 80 to 100 km/h. For women and children, slower speeds of 40 to 60 km/h were arranged, allowing everyone to participate and enjoy.
A special fun zone was created for children, featuring swings like Jumping Jack and Mickey Mouse, which kept the younger crowd entertained. Many families visited the park as it was a holiday, turning the event into a perfect outing for people of all age groups.
Selfie Corners, Dugout Experience Attract Visitors
The Fan Park also featured selfie zones and life-size cutouts of popular cricketers. Fans, especially youngsters, were seen clicking pictures with these cutouts, with the cutout of Mahendra Singh Dhoni drawing the maximum attention. Free face painting further added to the festive mood.
A dugout-style seating arrangement was another major attraction. Visitors enjoyed sitting there and imagining themselves as part of a cricket team, replicating the experience seen during live matches.
Special Arrangements and Strong Response
According to Anant Datar Manager of Cricket Operations at the BCCI, Jamshedpur was among 50 cities selected for the IPL Fan Park initiative. He said the objective was to bring the excitement of stadium cricket to cities where fans cannot easily watch matches live.
Special seating arrangements were made for elderly and differently-abled visitors, along with a VIP lounge for officials and former players. Strict security measures were also in place to ensure smooth conduct of the event.
Vendors from Kolkata also reached the venue to sell IPL merchandise such as headbands and wristbands, with KKR items being in high demand. Overall, the Fan Park created a festive atmosphere in the city, giving cricket lovers an unforgettable experience.
