Potka, Nov 11: Diarrhea continues to wreak havoc in Bagon village under Dhirol Panchayat of Potka in East Singhbhum district.
In the last three days, 50 people have been affected with diarrhea who are being treated at Upgraded Middle School and Community Health Center Potka and also referred to Tata Main Hospital.
More than two dozen people have returned home after recovering.
On Thursday, 11 fresh diarrheal cases were detected and are being treated by Dr Rajni Mahakud and Dr. Anoop Mandal, in-charge of Community Health Center in Upgraded Middle School.
At present, three patients are admitted in the same community health center.
The health department is engaged in controlling diarrhea by setting up health camps.
According to health officials one foot water flows on the lanes of the village which is used by locals to wash utensils and clothes and this is considered as the main reason for the spread of diarrheal infection.
Every year the people of the village come in the grip of diarrhoea but authorities do not spray bleaching powders or take preventive measures.
