Jamshedpur’s Avtar and Inderjit glitter among gold and silver at Nashik Veterans’ Cycling Meet

Jamshedpur, Nov 11: Former India international champion cyclists Avtar Singh and Inderjit Singh set the cycling tracks on fire at the national veterans cycling championship (60 years and above) organized by National Veterans’ Sports and Games Association in Nashik. Avtar Singh won the gold medal while Inderjit Singh bagged silvers in all the three events for veterans including 30, 50 and 60 kilometers races.

Sardar Avtar Singh who won trhe national cycling championship titles on seven occasions and has led India in the Asiad and other international games, presently devotes his time to special children. Sardar Inderjit Singh too has represented India at national and international meets and currently devotes his entire time as a managing committee member of Takht Shri Harminder Ji Patna Sahib that is the birth place of Guru Gobind Singh. Sardar Inderjit Singh said that he had barely a week’s time to practice before participating in the Fit India Sports Championship in Nashik. He thanked Tata Steel for allowing to devote time to his cycling hobby and passion because of the Marine Drive Road. He celebrated his 60th birthday with cyclists last year when he gave a message to the city to stay fit through cycling.

Avtar Singh has been participating in this cyclingh competition in Nashik for many years and it was he who inspired Sadrar Inderjit Singh to participate in it this year and in his very first appearance in this meet, the former cycling international bagged three silver medals in all the three categories.
