Jamshedpur, May 10: Durga Prasad Sharma, the owner of Rajasthan Sharma Hotel in Dhatkidih under Bistupur police station area, staged protest on Friday to safeguard his ancestral land.

The land, currently embroiled in a legal dispute, is facing encroachment and unauthorized construction by local bullies. Sharma, along with his colleagues, has taken to the streets, demanding immediate intervention from the administration to halt the illegal activities.

According to Sharma, the land in question has been in his family for generations, with a pending legal case concerning its ownership. Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, influential land mafias have continued to encroach upon the land and initiate construction activities. Sharma alleges that he has received numerous threats from these powerful individuals, instilling fear in his entire family.

Highlighting the communal dynamics of the area, Sharma expressed concern over the prevailing atmosphere of fear, particularly in a Muslim-dominated locality. Through their protest, Sharma and his supporters have urged the district police to intervene promptly and put an end to the illegal construction work. They seek justice and protection for their rightful ownership of the ancestral land.

Second party denies allegations, asserts land was sold in 1995, presents ownership claim

Jamshedpur, May 10: The land dispute in Dhatkidih, under the jurisdiction of the Bistupur police station area of Jamshedpur, has taken a significant twist as the second party involved has asserted its ownership claim. Shanawar Rehman, representing the second party, has alleged that the first party forcibly seized the land and provided his account regarding the ownership of the disputed land.

According to Rehman, he purchased the land from Durga Prasad Sharma and his family back in 1995. Since then, an old dilapidated house has stood on the land, and recent construction work commenced a few days ago. Rehman claims that despite a pending court case, the documents validate his rightful ownership of the land, and there are currently no legal disputes concerning the property. As a result, construction activities are being carried out on the land.

Rehman further alleges that Durga Prasad Sharma is enjoying the support of a prominent leader from the ruling party of Jharkhand, enabling him to perpetuate the controversy. He refutes all accusations against him, asserting that it is his family that faces threats in this dispute. Rehman invites the administration to conduct a thorough reinvestigation into the matter to uncover the truth.
