Jamshedpur, July 30: The Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial College (LBSM) Alumni Association secretary Dil Bahadur has stated that the admission notice mentioning direct admission for Intermediate classes is unconstitutional and demanded that it be revised.
The Alumni Association secretary pointed out that the college was founded with the purpose of providing higher education facilities to local students belonging to SC, ST, OBC and financially weak backgrounds and alleged that instead of accommodating them, the present college administration has generalized the admission procedure. As per the admission notification students with a minimum of 60 percent marks were eligible to apply for admission in Intermediate streams at LBSM College. He has argued that there should have been provisions for admission of local students from SC, ST, OBC, poor families and for those with sports and cultural credentials that have been overlooked in violation with the Colleges constitution.
Dil Bahadur said that all colleges and universities had provisions for students from SC, ST and OBC communities but the LBSM College management overlooked these factors and notified for direct admissions. He demanded that the notification be revised and a new notification, keeping in mind the constitutional aspects be issued.
