Jamshedpur truck-trailer owners to go on strike from August 1

Jamshedpur: The Jamshedpur Truck and Trailer Owners Association has decided to go on strike from August 1. Speaking to reporters at Transport Nagar, Dimna Road, Jamshedpur in East Singhbhum, the association’s president Jasbir Singh Sire announced their decision. He said that the wheels of about 900 heavy vehicles plying in Odisha and surrounding areas will stop from August 1.

The association will also forcibly stop more than one thousand trains coming from Odisha by making checkposts in Bahragoda. The truck owners of Jharkhand are being given Rs 500 per ton less than the Odisha trucks by Kharagpur Rashmi Metallic and Odisha Metallic, while Kolhan’s drivers are spending much more to transport the goods to the destination. The price of diesel has increased by 15 rupees a litre. The Chaibasa-Hata road has been closed for 10 months by the administration. Because of this, trains have to travel 60 km, with three toll bridges.
