DBMUN 2024 at DAV Bistupur: A decade of debating for equality and human rights

Jamshedpur, August 16: The Decennial Negotiation Summit of DAV Public School, Bistupur Model United Nations (DBMUN) commenced on Friday, 16th August 2024, marking the start of its two-day annual event. The event, the oldest and largest school-run MUN in the Steel City, saw the participation of 340 students from various DAV Public Schools across Jharkhand Zone-E.

The program began with the traditional DAV Gaan, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Chief Guest Parul Singh, SDO, Dhalbhum, Jamshedpur, alongside Pragya Singh, ARO-DAV Public Schools, Jharkhand Zone-E cum Principal of DAV Public School, Bistupur.

The theme for this year’s DBMUN is “Celebrating A Decade of Striving for Equality, Respect, and Promotion of Human Rights.” The event aims to nurture young leaders, enhancing their research, public speaking, debating, and leadership skills, while also fostering global peace and cooperation.

In her welcome address, Principal Pragya Singh emphasized the importance of leadership and critical thinking in education. She praised the students who initiated DBMUN and highlighted its role in cultivating globally-minded, socially conscious individuals.

Chief Guest Parul Singh lauded the school’s efforts in promoting leadership through co-curricular activities. She encouraged students to continue their efforts, emphasizing that small steps taken today can lead to significant achievements.

The summit’s first day concluded with intense deliberations in various committees, addressing critical issues ranging from global conflicts to social welfare. Resolutions passed included enhancing support for peacekeeping in Africa, combating violence in Latin America, and prioritizing climate finance
