Jamshedpur, June 10: DAV Centre of Academic Excellence under aegis of DAV CAE, DAV CMC, New Delhi, organized�an In-service Teachers’ Training Workshop for Capacity Building in collaboration with Regional Training Centre, Jamshedpur Zone, at DAV Bistupur on Friday.
The inaugural session was attended by teachers of Class 3 to 8.
Pragya Singh, principal, DAV Bistupur, in her welcome address said that the sole goal of the teachers is to teach well and give unconditional love to the children so as to help them become world class citizens. She also cited an anecdote from the life of J.N. Tata.
Addressing the inaugural session, S.K. Luthra, regional director, DAV Schools, appreciated all the master trainers with the special mention and sincere thanks to DAV CMC, New Delhi, for their sincere and earnest efforts in trying to spread quality education.
He said, “As teachers we have the capacity to mould the destiny of the students”. He appreciated the board results of all the zonal schools with a special mention of DAV Bistupur where 114 students cracked IIT Mains exam.
Altogether 370 teachers from all the nineteen Zonal Schools in and around Jharkhand participated in the three days workshop. The workshops were conducted by the In-service teachers in various subjects like Engligh, Hindi, social science, mathematics, science and computer science.
Capacity Building program for English teachers included a general English session, which was conducted by Deepshikha Purty on essentials of grammar and English as a global language. Various resource persons like �Tamanna Srivastava, Sumana Brahma and �Maneesha Sinha took up sessions on speaking and listening skills, reading and writing, the four R’s that forms the bedrock of English language with the help of PPT’s, worksheets and training manuals.
In social science, the program dealt with �nuts and bolts� of teaching and lesson plan format. In science subject, it dealt with the objectives of teaching science and effectiveness of lesson plan. In computer science, the topic included trouble shooting during practical classes and problem solving methods adopted by teachers in respective schools was discussed along with syllabus as well as mentoring of teachers.
In maths, the training session dealt with the basic concepts of the subject. In Hindi, the subject for discussion was the importance of Hindi as a language, highlighting its creativity and how to make teaching effective.
