Aim to expand the reach of FTTH service: Mahato
Jamshedpur, April 2: Dashrath Mahato on Saturday took charge as the new General Manager of BSNL Jamshedpur BA (Business Area) from his outgoing predecessor, Sanjeev Verma. This was announced during a press meet at BSNL Golmuri office.
Dashrath Mahato was earlier posted as DGM (Administration and Planning), BSNL, GMTD, Jamshedpur.
The longest-serving general manager Sanjeev Verma has been transferred to Bihar Circle Patna as GM (CFA). Verma was posted here for five years and eight months.
While interacting with the media, Dashrath Mahto said, “BSNL Jamshedpur has made considerable progress under Sanjeev Verma and taking the success further would be the responsibility now rests on us. I had the privilege to work with Sanjeev Verma for around 18 months and it is all because of his potential that BSNL Jamshedpur has been accorded the large Business Area status and has been no 1 in Jharkhand.”
The new GM added that he would work to expand the reach of BSNL to grass root level and ensure that fibre to the home (FTTH) internet service reaches the maximum population.
Outgoing GM Sanjeev Verma heaped praise on the new GM and termed him strong and competent.
“Despite difficult circumstances BSNL did not get bogged down and we worked with full transparency. BSNL always worked for inclusive development and not for profit alone,” added Verma.
Verma thanked the employees and family members of BSNL Jamshedpur and said that he will take up the new assignment in Patna on April 6.
He further informed, “When 4G service was launched in 2016, our broadband services started getting disconnected but we countered it with Fibre Cable and I am happy to inform that we provided more fibre connections than the number of broadband disconnections.”
Jamshedpur has been designated as the largest business area in Jharkhand circle by BSNL headquarters. Around 45 per cent of the total growth of FTTH in Jharkhand circle comes from Jamshedpur.
“During the financial year 2021-‘22 Jamshedpur BA has provided 7000 FTTH connections out of around 17,000 connections provided by Jharkhand Circle,” stated Sanjeev Verma.
It is worth mentioning that BSNL was also associated with SAFF U-18 Women’s Championship 2022 held at J.R.D. Sports Complex Jamshedpur
