Jamshedpur, Oct 30: CRPF inspector Kaushal Kumar Mishra, who was critically injured in an IED explosion during an anti-baxal operation in the Saranda forest on October 10, succumbed to his injuries on Thursday while undergoing treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi.
Inspector Mishra had sustained severe injuries to his left leg after an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Maoists went off during a joint security operation. He was initially treated at Rourkela, before being airlifted to AIIMS Delhi for advanced medical care.
In the same blast, head constable Mahendra Lashkar was killed on the spot, while ASI Ramkrishna Gagarai and inspector Mishra were seriously injured. Both were later shifted to Delhi for treatment.
Despite the efforts of doctors, Inspector Mishra succumbed to his injuries, joining the ranks of martyrs who have laid down their lives fighting Left Wing Extremism in Jharkhand’s most insurgency-affected region.
Meanwhile, sub-inspector Ramchandra Gagarai, brother of Kharsawan MLA Dashrath Gagrai, continues to receive treatment at AIIMS and is reported to be recovering.
Security forces have intensified anti-naxal operations in the Saranda forest following the October 10 attack.
