Police officers arrested notorious dacoit Kalli Gurjar and his associate Ajay Gurjar after an encounter in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district on Thursday morning.
The Madhya Pradesh police had placed an ₹80,000 bounty on Kalli Gurjar. Authorities had sought him across multiple districts for numerous serious violent offenses.
Police officers acted on a specific tip reporting the movement of the gang. The informant spotted the criminals near Lalitapura village within the Banmore police station limits.
A specialized police team reached the forest area around 10:00 AM. The dacoit gang immediately opened fire upon sighting the approaching law enforcement officers.
Police personnel retaliated in self-defense during the intense exchange of bullets. Officers shot Kalli Gurjar and Ajay Gurjar in their legs during the encounter.
The retaliatory fire neutralized the main suspects at the scene. Other gang members fled deeper into the surrounding dense forest during the chaos.
Morena Superintendent of Police Dharmaraj Meena confirmed the details of the operation. He stated that the police team responded rapidly to verified intelligence.
Superintendent Meena explained that the gang initiated the gunfight against the officers. The police personnel defended themselves effectively and brought the lead suspects down.
Officers immediately captured the two injured dacoits at the scene. Emergency teams rushed both men to the local district hospital for urgent treatment.
Police officers seized several illegal firearms and live ammunition from the captured suspects. Forensics teams are currently analyzing the recovered weapons.
Kalli Gurjar, legally named Kiledar Gurjar, resides in Chachul village within Morena district. He has operated violent criminal networks across the region for years.
Law enforcement agencies have registered about 20 major criminal cases against Kiledar Gurjar. These charges include murder, armed robbery, and attempt to murder.
His active cases span across Morena, Gwalior, and Sheopur districts. Authorities initially set the bounty on his head at ₹60,000 across various cases.
Officials recently raised the total reward amount to ₹80,000 due to his escalating crimes. Law enforcement agencies in neighboring Rajasthan also actively wanted him.
Joint police teams from three districts spent several days searching for the fugitive. The criminal had continuously evaded capture by hiding in remote forested terrain.
Kalli Gurjar regularly posted videos on social media platforms despite being a fugitive. He frequently taunted law enforcement and openly challenged his rival Karua Gurjar.
Police forces have launched a massive search operation throughout the forest. Officers are tracking the remaining gang members who escaped the encounter site.
Senior officials confirmed that police teams are conducting further investigations into the gang’s network. Authorities expect to make additional arrests in the coming days.
