India successfully tests indigenous ‘Pralay’ Missile

The Defence Research and Development Organisation has successfully conducted a flight test of India’s indigenously developed surface-to-surface missile named Pralay off the Odisha coast.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh confirmed the successful trial on Thursday. He announced that the test took place at 11:10 AM as part of regular user evaluation trials.
Range instruments captured comprehensive tracking data throughout the test flight. This data confirmed that the missile successfully met every stipulated objective set by defence scientists.
Rajnath Singh praised the achievement of the scientists and armed forces. He noted that the trial marks a major milestone in strengthening India’s self-reliant defence capabilities.
This missile achievement follows another recent technological breakthrough by the defence organisation. Last month, scientists successfully tested an indigenously developed High-Altitude Platform System.
The experimental aerial platform reached a target altitude of 21 kilometres above sea level. It maintained a steady position in the stratosphere for over 30 minutes.
Ground controllers monitored the vehicle continuously during the stratospheric test. The system safely descended and landed after technicians completed the required performance trials.
Engineers recovered the system intact to analyse all collected mission data. The flight validated the platform’s ability to support persistent surveillance and communications missions.
The platform transmitted real-time video and vehicle performance metrics to control stations. Onboard instruments including GPS receivers, cameras, and altitude control mechanisms functioned seamlessly.
Multiple agencies coordinated the high-altitude trial alongside defence scientists. These partners included the Indian Air Force, military airworthiness authorities, and civil aviation regulators.
