Jamshedpur, November 1: District Police has initiated action to crack down on crime and criminals.
Under this, police station in-charges of urban areas will patrol on foot in their respective areas.
City SP Mukesh Kumar Lunayat has issued instructions for this.
City SP himself reached Sakchi roundabout on Wednesday and started this campaign. During this time, auto drivers standing on the roadside were reprimanded and fined.
City SP said that this campaign is being started with the aim of increasing the sense of security among the people towards the police and creating an atmosphere of fear among anti-social elements.
Police station in-charges will patrol their respective areas on foot for one to one and a half kilometers two to three days a week.
For this, the timetable of one month in advance will be issued from the SP office. At present, a total of 153 places in the city have been identified where the police will patrol on foot.
SP Mukesh Kumar Lunayat said that the tradition of foot patrolling has almost ended. Now, by starting it again, apart from routing patrolling, special emphasis is being laid on this. Apart from the places of gathering, sensitive places, the police station in-charge will patrol around schools and colleges.
