Jamshedpur, Jan 31: The same zeal, the same pulsating atmosphere and the same, soothing warmth in the Evening Club Auditorium compared to the chill outside, prevailed on the second and concluding evening of classical music programme organized under the aegis of Prachin Kala Kendra with maestros in their respective musical fields proved yet again why they were held in such high esteem.

Vidushi Krishna Ganguly set the tone of the final evening of ‘Shaam-e-Mausiqui with the presentation of Raag Puriyadhanasri in Aalaap. The next stop was a piece based on Bandish in Vilambit Ex Taal. She again presented a bandish set to Teen Taal. The applauding and rapturous audience did not seem to have enough and neither did Krishna disappoint. She performed another excellent composition on a combination of Dadra and Bandish and concluded her magical presentations with a Thumri. The ovation she received at the end is a piece right of a fairytale.

She was accompanied by Amitava Sen on tabla and   Sujan Chatterjee on harmonium who made her presentations memorable.

The famed Pandit Subroto Dey took over from where Vidushi Krishna Ganguly had raised the mark of expectations from connoisseurs of Indian classical music. The hallmark of his presentation was Subroto Dey’s own creation, Raag Shikhashri, and he regaled the packed auditorium with Alaap and Jod Alaap which buoyed the mood of the discerning audience. The aesthetics of the masterpiece was followed up by Pandit Subroto Dey when he presented a couple of gats in Vilambit Teen Taal and Madhya Laya Char Taal and Drut in Teen Taal, amidst thunderous applause. His concluding presentation, Raag Malika   provided a fitting and memorable finale to the two day concert.  He was accompanied on tabla by the redoubtable Amitava Sen.

The programme was anchored by Sujit Roy.
