Jamshedpur police solve theft case from Doctor residence, nab four including jewellery shop owner

Jamshedpur, Jan 31: Kadma police has managed to solve the theft of jewelleries from the house of a doctor Moushumi Das along the Kadma Link Road on the night of January 25 with the arrest of three criminals and recovery of the stolen ornaments.

The three criminals have been identified as Nagendra Bag, Meraj Khan and Naresh Bag along with the jewellery shop owner Sanjay Kumar who had purchased the stolen ornaments.

Police have released the other jewellery shop owner Sumit Jain who was also detained in the same case.

According to DSP headquarter II, Arvind Kumar, based on the confession of the thieves they recovered gold locket, two jhumkas, earrings, a pair of earrings, silver coin and several other silver utensils and ornaments, silver sindurdani, 22 gram gold chain, molten gold, two watches, cash of Rs 5500, gold chain and the total amount of the ornaments is valued at Rs 3.5 lakh.

According to police they are yet to nab another member of the gang and after his arrest they are expecting recovery of some other ornaments.  The thieves had mortgaged the stolen ornaments with the jewellery shop owner at Rs 80,000. One of the arrested thief, Nagendra Bag had earlier also been to jail for similar offence and stays in Kadma Khassi Line while Miraj Khan stays in Bistupur and Naresh Bag stays near Sakchi Veterinary Hospital quarters.

The doctor had claimed that ornaments worth Rs 6 lakh were stolen from her house.
