Chaibasa: The West Singhbhum police here on Saturday arrested six Maoists, including four who used to supply detonators to the CPI-Maoist commanders who have presently taken hold of Kolhan and Porahat forest divisions by planting unspecified number of IEDs.
Those arrested were identified as Baj Hembram, Dubraj Hembram, Turi Hembram, Palsingh Hembram, Damu Koda and Birsingh Koda. While the Hembrams were arrested for supplying detonators to the rebels in naxal-seized Kolhan and Porahat forest divisions, the two Kodas were arrested for being indulged in naxal-sponsored violences in West Singhbhum in the years 2021 and 2022. Revealing about the breakthrough, West Singhbhum Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar said a team was set up to identify people supplying detonators and explosive materials to the naxals anchored in the forest. “Acting on a tip-off, our team first arrested Baj Hembram with two detonators. On interrogation, Baj confessed to be an active member of the naxal outfit and admitted to have been supplying the explosives to the naxal commanders presently taking hold of the two forest divisions. It was after further interrogation that the team of police officers succeeded to nab three more detonator suppliers from the Goelkera police station area,” said the SP.
