Jamshedpur: Continuous rainfall in Jamshedpur has started to take a toll on the city’s infrastructure. Late Wednesday night, the boundary wall of Bengal Muslim Primary School in Sitaramdera collapsed after two large trees fell on it amid the downpour. The incident, which occurred in the dead of night, turned the wall into rubble and disrupted traffic flow in the vicinity while also blocking the adjoining drainage system.
Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in the incident. However, the damage left the school premises exposed and vulnerable. On Thursday morning, when students and teachers arrived at the school, they were met with the shocking sight of the broken boundary and debris scattered across the entrance. According to school staff, stray animals were seen roaming inside the premises due to the breach.
There is growing concern that if the wall is not rebuilt swiftly, anti-social elements could take advantage of the open access. With monsoon rains expected to continue, the risks of further damage or unauthorized intrusion cannot be ruled out.
The school authorities have officially reported the matter to the Education Department and sought immediate action. Meanwhile, local residents have urged the municipal authorities to remove the fallen trees, clear the drainage path, and ensure that safety measures are taken to protect the school property and its students.
