Saryu Roy’s civic team raises utility concerns with Tata Steel land officials

Jamshedpur, May 11: In an effort to address long-pending civic issues in Tata Steel lease areas, Mukul Mishra, public facilitation representative of Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy, met Tata Land’s Regional Manager Praveen Kumar on Monday and urged immediate intervention to resolve residents’ grievances related to water and electricity connections.
Mishra highlighted that a large number of residents from Sonari, Kadma, Bistupur and Sakchi have already submitted applications for essential utility connections but are yet to receive approvals, causing significant inconvenience.
He stressed the need for swift action to ensure that basic civic amenities are made accessible to affected households without further delay.
Responding to the concerns, Tata Land’s Regional Manager Praveen Kumar assured the delegation that the matter would be reviewed on priority and necessary steps would be taken soon to resolve the pending cases.
During the meeting, Mishra also alleged discriminatory action by the company in its anti-encroachment drive. He claimed that while security teams act promptly against minor encroachments, larger and more influential violators are often left untouched.
“This selective enforcement has encouraged the mushrooming of illegal apartment constructions. There cannot be one rule for the powerful and another for ordinary residents,” Mishra said.
He further urged Tata Land authorities to expedite scrutiny of pending building plan applications and grant No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to eligible applicants, enabling them to proceed with lawful construction of their homes.
Others present during the meeting included Sheetal Khullar, Vinod Singh, Kajal Chaudhary and Ashok Singh, who also supported the demand for faster resolution of civic and administrative issues faced by residents in the lease areas.
