Jamshedpur, May 11: A thought-provoking workshop at the IGNOU Study Centre of Jamshedpur Women’s University commenced on a dignified and inspiring note, highlighting the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education and society.
The programme began with a warm welcome by IGNOU Coordinator Tripura Jha, who felicitated Vice Chancellor Prof. Ela Kumar with a bouquet and introduced the theme of the workshop. The inaugural session opened with a prayer, setting a reflective tone for the day.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Ila Kumar underscored the growing influence and relevance of Artificial Intelligence, emphasizing that AI is no longer confined to technological advancement alone. “AI is not merely a technological innovation; it is increasingly becoming a force connected with human emotions, ethical values, and spiritual dimensions,” she remarked. She encouraged students to embrace technology with creativity, responsibility, and a positive mindset, particularly in the field of education.
The third and fourth sessions featured an insightful lecture by Dr. Suchitra Behera from Kolhan University, who served as the resource person for the workshop. Through an engaging PowerPoint presentation, she delivered detailed talks on “Paradigm Shift in Teacher Education” and “Challenges Related to Quality in Secondary Education.” Her interactive approach encouraged active participation, curiosity, and meaningful dialogue among the students, making the sessions both informative and inspiring.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic involvement from students, reflecting their keen interest in contemporary educational issues and emerging technologies. The successful conduct of the programme was supported by Assistant Coordinator Vijeta Kumari, resource persons Arunima Kumari, Prabhakar Rao, and Upendra Sharma, along with other faculty members of the Education Department, whose collective efforts ensured the event’s success and significance.
The first day of the workshop concluded on a patriotic note with the singing of the national anthem.
