According to the IMD forecast, continuous heavy rainfall is expected in the district over the next 24 hours. In addition to the downpour, rising water levels in rivers and widespread waterlogging have raised safety concerns for school-going children. With several rivers already flowing near or above the danger mark, the administration has deemed it unsafe to continue regular school operations.
Invoking powers under Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Deputy Commissioner has declared a holiday for all government, private, minority, and aided schools operating classes from 1 to 8. The order has been issued as a precautionary measure in public interest, aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
