BJP leader Chotu Pandit named in Mango riot shot dead in broad day light

Jamshedpur, Oct. 29: Two criminals shot dead BJP leader Manish Pathak alias Chotu Pandit outside his home in Daiguttu under Mango police station areaon Thursdayevening.

The victim, who had sustained bullet in the head was rushed to Tata Main Hospital emergency by locals of the area and his family members, where the doctors declared him brought dead.

According to sources, Pandit was installing CCTV cameras outside his home near Daiguttu Kali Mandir in Mango when two unidentified miscreants fired bullets at him and fled the scene. Immediately, Pandit dropped to the ground following which the locals rushed him to TMH.

The murder victim was secretary of BJP’s Mango Mandal Committee and had been sent to jail for being involved in the communal violence taken place at Mango in July.

Some weeks back Chotu Pandit and his group attacked Vikash Tiwari, also a resident of Daigutu, Mango, following a land dispute. Hence, the police suspect that the crime may have been committed by Vikash Tiwari.

Deputy superintendent of police (headquarters-I) KN Mishra said the murder victim Pandit was a resident of Daiguttu and the murder was the outcome an old enmity between the neighbours.

“We are investigating the incident we have already got the names of those killed Pandit. Though the assailants have fled the area, we are trying to arrest the two accused by conducting raids at their houses and elsewhere in the city,” said Mishra.

According to police, the assailants were identified as Vikash Tiwary and Tezu Singh, both residents of Daiguttu in Mango.

It is worth mentioning here that Chotu Pandit was named in the Mango riots case. Recently, the State Food and Civil Supplies minister Saryu Rai had been to the jail to meet Pandit.

BJP activists had protested the arrest of Chotu Pandit and took to the streets against the district police administration demanding his release.

Rai had also reportedly advised the district administration to exercise transparency while investigating the matter.
