Jamshedpur: The stage was set, the excitement palpable, and the intellectual fervor infectious as Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC) hosted the Biofest Eastern Indian Zone Quiz and Poster Making Competition on September 9th, 2023. This spectacular event witnessed the convergence of young minds from across the region, showcasing their brilliance, creativity, and dedication to the field of medicine and life sciences.
A total of 81 exceptionally talented students, representing various prestigious institutions, participated in the preliminary rounds, making it a fierce battle of wits and knowledge. Out of these, 21 students formed seven teams, earning the privilege to compete in the final crowning round, held at the magnificent Manipal Tata Medical College.
The finalists were an epitome of excellence, hailing from renowned institutions such as AIIMS Patna, Hi-Tech Medical College Bhubaneswar, SNMMC Dhanbad, College of Medicine and JNM Hospital Kalyani. These brilliant young minds locked horns in a series of intellectually stimulating rounds, each more challenging than the last.
Dr. Pradeep Kumar G, the Dean of Manipal Tata Medical College, and Dr. Rajiva Dwivedi, the Director of Academics, Associate Deans, graced the event as chief guests, setting the tone for an eventful day. Special invites included judge and guest faculty Dr. Matin Ahmed Khan, Associate Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, LCMCH Bishrampur, Palamu, Dr. Srawanti, Associate Professor in Biochemistry, and Dr. Hari Mohan, Associate Professor at the Department of Physiology.
The competition was nothing short of intense, with 11 rounds of rigorous quizzing and testing of scientific acumen. AIIMS Patna emerged victorious, securing first and second place. The third-place honor went to MTMC, Jamshedpur, cementing their position as formidable competitors.
The excitement did not end there, as the Poster Making Competition showcased the artistic talents within the medical community. Muskaan Pradhan from Hi-Tech Medical College, Bhubaneswar, claimed the top spot, while Prativa Sahoo from MTMC, Jamshedpur, secured the second position. Tarun Kumar from LCMCH, Palamu, impressed the judges and took home the third-place prize, while Abhigyna Samanta from Hi-Tech Medical College, Bhubaneswar, received a well-deserved consolation prize.
Behind the scenes, the Biochemistry team played a pivotal role in making this event a grand success. The team, led by Dr. Kavita Rasalkar, Professor, and Head of Department, included dedicated individuals like Dr. Sunita Tripathy, Dr. Sulekha Sinha, Dr. Nagamma Takkella, Dr. Bikramaditya Mukherjee, Dr. Elvis Vishal S Dadel, Dr. Neelam Mehta, Sandeep Bhattacharjee, Monit Sundriyal, Swetanka Prasad, Veena, Kavita, Neelima, Anthony, and Krishna M Tiwari. Their tireless efforts ensured that the event ran smoothly and left an indelible mark on all participants and attendees.
The Biofest Eastern Indian Zone Quiz and Poster Making Competition 2023 was a true celebration of knowledge, creativity, and camaraderie among young medical and life science enthusiasts.
