Accident at Kharkai River Ghat leads to FIR and Truck Seizure; Driver remains at large

Jamshedpur, Oct 25: A somber incident unfolded during an immersion ceremony at Baili Bodhanwala Kharkai river ghat in the jurisdiction of Bistupur police station on Tuesday night. An FIR has been officially lodged with the Bistupur police station, based on the statement provided by Magistrate Shantanu Ghosh. The local authorities are actively pursuing the case with due diligence.

The heart-wrenching accident claimed the lives of two individuals, Virendra Prasad Sharma, a resident of Kitadih Traffic Colony in the Bagbera police station area, and Abhimanyu Gharai, hailing from Dhuipara in the Mohanpur police station area of West Midnapore district, West Bengal. Additionally, three individuals – Gopal Gharai, Vijay Gharai, and Hugra Mukhi, all residents of Dhuipara in the Mohanpur police station area of West Midnapore district, are currently receiving medical treatment at TMH.

The victims had gathered to participate in a drumming performance at the ghat. Tragically, a truck was involved in the accident, which has since been seized by the authorities. However, amidst the chaos and the sizable crowd that gathered following the accident, the truck driver managed to evade capture. Law enforcement agencies are currently engaged in an active search for the missing driver, as the community mourns the loss of two lives and prays for the swift recovery of those injured.
