Jammshedpur: The District Police in Jamshedpur put in place stringent security measures during the Durga Puja celebrations, with a special focus on traffic violations. As part of their efforts, the police conducted a targeted operation against offenses such as rash driving, modified silencers, drunk driving, and unauthorized pressure horns. The results of this campaign were noteworthy, with a total of 143 vehicles being apprehended and a sum of ₹2,62,500 collected in fines.
Providing details of the operation, Animesh Gupta, the Media Cell In-Charge and Deputy Superintendent of Police (CCR) at Jamshedpur Police, stated that out of the 143 vehicles intercepted, 40 were caught for rash driving, 60 for possessing modified silencers, one for installing a pressure horn, and five for drunk driving. Four individuals involved in drunk driving cases have been subsequently sent to court for legal proceedings.
Notably, the highest sum of fines was gathered from vehicles with modified silencers, with 60 such motorcycles being held accountable, resulting in a fine collection of 1,97,500. Furthermore, 51,000 was collected from vehicles engaged in rash driving, 2,000 from those equipped with pressure horns, and 12,000 from individuals found driving under the influence. Additionally, a total of 37 motorcycles were seized by traffic stations during this operation.
