Jamshedpur/Ranchi, June 11: The corona crisis in increasing in Jharkhand with more than 100 positive cases being reported in the state with every passing day. On Thursday, June 11, 60 cases came in till the filing of this report. Jamshedpur which has been leading the tally with the most cases in Jharkhand reported ten new positives on Thursday taking the East Singhbhum corona tally to 221. Of the ten new positives, four are from Patamda and two each from Chakulia and Bahragora, one each from Mousabani and Mango. Five people have returned to the district from Mumbai, while two have arrived from Chennai, two from Maharashtra, one from Pune. All the 10 were in institutional quarantine and have been admitted to COVID-19 ward of TMH and MGM Hospital.
Earlier on Wednesday, 19 cases were reported in Jamshedpur which took the district tally cross 200. On the other hand 6 people were discharged from TMH and Tata Motors Hospital on Thursday.
Total of 78 people have been discharged till date while 160 cases are still active in East Singhbhum district.
In Jharkhand 60 cases were reported till the filing of this report on Thursday. Around 600 people have defeated coronavirus in Jharkhand.
On Thursday 20 positives have been reported from Simdega, 9 from Ranchi, 10 from Jamshedpur, 5 each from Koderma and Gumla, 7 from Ramgarh, 2 from West Singhbhum and one each from Seraikela and Latehar. With today�s addition the total corona tally in state stands at 1611. Total positive cases in West Singhbhum have climbed to 39 with two cases reported on Thursday. Seven people have been discharged from the hospital. Earlier on Wednesday, 128 cases were reported in Jharkhand.
Most of the positive cases are migrants who are in quarantine in different locations.
The number of cases in the state was 521 on May 31 and by June 11, it has gone up to 1611, according to state health ministry data. The migrant labourers who returned over the last one month, around 900 have contributed to the state tally. Till June 7, a total 87,721 people have been tested for coronavirus. The average positive test in every 100 test is 2.3 in June. East Singhbhum has become the new hot spot in the state with 150 active cases.
Sahebganj has become the 24th district in the state to be infected with COVID-19 virus. Three active cases are there in Sahebganj. Most of the corona positives are migrant workers. Most of the positives in East Singhbhum have travel history and have returned from other states.
Earlier, two intern doctors at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) were found to be Covid-19 positive, health officials said, adding that they had a recent travel history.
East Singhbhum district accounts for 221 cases out of a total of 1611.
While 91,765 people are in various quarantine centres, 2,91,828 people are in home quarantine.
Around 1,100 migrant workers returning from Red Zone areas have been detected Corona positive so far.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed his concern over the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the state. Soren while talking to reporters said that the State Government is evaluating all aspects together to take a responsible decision on imposing Lockdown again.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease.
