Jamshedpur: The 55th Annual General Meeting of the Jamshedpur Branch of the Jharkhand Bangali Samiti (JBS) was held at Sakchi High School. The session began with a welcome address by Senior Vice President Swapan Dasgupta, followed by a minute’s silence in memory of departed members.
General Secretary Tapan Sen Sharma presented the annual report, which was unanimously approved. Co-treasurer Saroj Sen also presented the financial accounts that received collective endorsement. Members raised questions and proposals under various subjects, which were addressed by the presidium.
A new executive committee was also formed. The key office bearers included Patron – Shekhar Dey; President – Bhavesh Chandra Dev; Senior Vice President – Swapan Dasgupta; Vice Presidents – Rama Mukherjee, Sujata Biswas, Tarun Kanti Ghosh, Sumita Bera, Purabi Ghosh, Dilip Kumar Singh Modak, and Tapas Sarkar; General Secretary – Tapan Kumar Sen Sharma; Joint Secretaries – Ashish Gupta and Pradyut Bez; Assistant Secretaries – Jyotsna Kar, Tapati Dutta, Srota Dasgupta, Aarti Sen, Jaydev Banerjee, and Shyamal Sarkar.
The Women’s Department will be led by Purabi Chatterjee, while the Youth Wing will be headed by Pranab Naha. Jharna Kar will handle policy and program planning. Saroj Sen was appointed Treasurer. Nisar Amin and Shalini Singh will serve as editors of the Samiti’s publication Samiti Samachar, with Purabi Banerjee as co-editor.
The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge to promote cultural and social activities among the Bengali community.
