Jamshedpur: The 46th East Singhbhum District Open and Women’s Chess Championship 2026 will be held from April 17 to April 19 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur. The tournament has already received an encouraging response, with around 150 entries registered so far.
In the Open (Boys’) category, Kumar Sankalp, with a rating of 1771, is the top-seeded player, while Navika Jaiswal, rated 1514, leads the Women’s category as the top seed. The championship will be conducted following the Swiss System of play.
The winner of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs 5,000. In addition, cash prizes will be awarded to the top 20 players, while 36 trophies will be distributed across different age categories, making it a competitive and rewarding event for participants.
NK Tiwary will serve as the Tournament Director. IA Jayant Kumar Bhuyan will take charge as the Tournament Technical Director and is also the General Secretary of the East Singhbhum District Chess Association. IA Chandan Kumar Prasad will act as the Chief Arbiter, while IA Vishal Kumar Minz will serve as the Deputy Chief Arbiter.
The championship is expected to witness strong competition and provide a platform for emerging chess talents in the district.
