2020 Jamshedpur science topper finally gets reward

Jamshedpur, April 7: East Singhbhum district social welfare department has finally succeeded in giving a Rs 5000 cheque as a reward to the district topper in Science stream for the year 2020. A cheque of the said amount was reissued to Kalpana Bhagat, the meritorious student and resident of Kashidih village under Potka block, after the same was found to carry some spelling error in the beneficiary’s name. Kalpana had topped the Intermediate Science exams in East Singhbhum held in 2020. District social welfare department had given her a cheque of Rs 5000 at a legal empowerment camp organized by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in February 2021. But the cheque bounced due to her incorrect name, sources said. After over one year, the social welfare department reissued the cheque to Kalpana following the intervention of Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Bhagat.
