Jamshedpur, April 7: Unidentified motorcycle-borne criminals snatched a gold chain from a 70 year-old woman at Dimna Road under Olidih police station area on Thursday, sources said.

Sources said the incident took place early morning when the victim was on a morning walk along the Dimna Road. As the woman walked, two miscreants came from behind and started snatching the gold chain from her. On showing resistance, the woman was pushed down and also reportedly assaulted her. The culprits reportedly tried to strangulate the woman when she tried to show resistance. Before the woman could raise an alarm to get help, the culprits decamped from the scene.

Local residents alleged that such broad daylight crimes had seriously shaken public faith in police. This is not the first time when such daring incidents have occurred in the city. In the recent few months, such crimes have shown an increased frequency, said a local resident.
