75 students from Baldwin Farm Area High School visit CSIR-NML under CSIR-Jigyasa Virtual Laboratory Scheme
Jamshedpur, July 10: CSIR–National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML), Jamshedpur, organized a laboratory visit for 75 students and four teachers from Baldwin Farm Area High School, Jamshedpur, on 10 July 2026 under the CSIR-Jigyasa Virtual Laboratory Scheme. The programme aimed to promote scientific awareness and introduce students to research and innovation.
The event began with an inaugural session. Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director of CSIR-NML, welcomed the participants and highlighted the laboratory’s significant contributions to the nation’s development through research and technological innovations over the past 75 years.
Dr. K. Gopala Krishna, Scientist-G and Head of IMDC, spoke about the importance of scientific research in advancing technology. He encouraged students to stay curious and interact with scientists. Dr. Sreeda P., Scientist-D, explained the objectives of the Jigyasa programme and its mission to inspire scientific thinking among school students.
Students visited several research facilities, including the Applied and Analytical Chemistry Division, Creep Testing Facility, E-Waste Recycling Unit, Brass Melting Facility, and attended demonstrations of DIY science kits.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and a group photograph. Students and teachers described the visit as an inspiring and informative experience that strengthened their interest in science and research.
