Devpalik Gupta, a 31-year-old digital communication manager for Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj party, has reportedly gone missing from a moving train while traveling from Ranchi to Patna on Monday. Gupta, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in Delhi and a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district, was traveling alongside his friend and colleague, Gautam Kumar.
According to Gautam Kumar, the duo boarded the Jan Shatabdi Express at Ranchi railway station, which departed at approximately 2:25 PM. Roughly ten minutes into the journey, Gupta informed his friend that he was heading to the train’s pantry car to buy some food, but he failed to return to his seat. Sensing something amiss, Gautam searched through the pantry car and scanned the entire train, but could not trace his whereabouts.
Upon the train’s arrival at Muri Junction, the first scheduled halt after Ranchi, Gautam promptly lodged an official missing person complaint with the Government Railway Police.
Authorities have launched an extensive search to locate the missing political manager. Sanjeev Singh, an inspector with the Railway Protection Force at Muri Junction, confirmed that security personnel are actively reviewing CCTV footage from the station. Initial footage indicates that Gupta did not disembark from the train during its stop at Muri. Officials added that the missing manager’s mobile phone remains switched off, complicating search efforts. A joint investigation team comprising local police and Railway Protection Force personnel has been formed to thoroughly probe the matter and trace his location.
