Worker dies after slipping into Surda copper mines

Jamshedpur A 40-year-old man, Doman Mahali died  after slipping into a pit at the Surda copper mines at Surda under Mosabani thana area in Ghatshila sub-division of the East Singhbhum district past midnight.  The victim who was a resident of Mosabani New Colony was rushed to the a hospital in Maubhandar in Ghatshila where he succumbed to his injuries.  The police said Mahali was a worker of Hindustan Copper Limitted, which owns the Surda mines, had fallen into a 55 metres deep pit during his night shift duty.  The police recovered the body and sent the body to the Ghatshila sub-divisional hospital for post-mortem.
