Women’s Day athletics event to be held at Moubhandar Ground

Jamshedpur: A special athletics event will be organised on March 8 to mark International Women’s Day, aimed at encouraging greater participation of women and girls in sports.

The programme is being organised under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports initiative Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India as part of the ASMITA – Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring Women Through Action campaign.

The event will take place at Moubhandar Football Ground at 8 a.m. on March 8. The objective of the programme is to promote sports culture among women, create awareness about health and fitness, and encourage participation in sports activities in both rural and urban areas.

Several athletics competitions will be organised during the event, including 100-metre, 200-metre and 400-metre races. Participants will compete in three different age categories: under 13 years, 13 to 18 years, and above 18 years.

Organisers said that medals and certificates will be awarded to participants who perform well in the competitions.

Interested participants have been asked to register through the MY Bharat portal and reach the venue at the scheduled time on the day of the event.

Officials of MY Bharat, Hazaribagh have appealed to schools, colleges, youth clubs, women athletes and sports enthusiasts across the district to take part in large numbers and make the initiative to promote women’s empowerment and sports culture a success.
