Woman robbed of purse in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Oct 18: In a late-night incident near Shastri Nagar Club under Kadma police station area, a woman was robbed of her purse by bike-borne miscreants. The incident took place around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The victim has been identified as Soni Kumari, a resident of Block No. 4 in Shastri Nagar.

According to reports, she was returning home after completing some work and was passing by the Shastri Nagar Club when two unidentified men on a motorcycle suddenly snatched her purse and sped away.

Shocked by the incident, Soni Kumari reportedly took some time to recover from the trauma and, after consulting her family, approached the Kadma police station three days later, on October 17.

In her written complaint, she mentioned that her purse contained a mobile phone, ATM cards, some cash, and important documents.

Following the complaint, the Kadma police have registered a case against unknown culprits and launched an investigation.

Station Officer-in-Charge stated that CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined to trace the accused. Police teams have intensified night patrolling and are questioning local suspects.

“We are confident of identifying and arresting the culprits soon,” the officer said.

Meanwhile, the incident has sparked concern among local residents, who expressed unease over the growing number of such crimes at night.

They have urged the authorities to increase police patrolling along the Shastri Nagar Club Road, citing frequent movement of anti-social elements in the area after dark.

Police have assured residents that night patrolling is being strengthened to ensure public safety and prevent similar incidents in the future.
