Jamshedpur, Aug 3: Sumitra Singh, wife of Punu Singh, contract worker of Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL), who died in a mishap in the Jadugora Mill Division of UCIL yesterday, would get a job in the PSU. This was announced by the UCIL officials and local public representatives during a bipartite meeting on Wednesday.
Sources said the company had assured to provide job to Sumitra Singh by October this year. After getting assurance, local union leaders and public representatives called off their ongoing agitation.
Earlier, the agitators had blocked the company gate demanding job for the wife of the deceased. Another UCIL worker Naveen Kumar was injured in the mishap and is currently under treatment in Jamshedpur. He is in CCU, sources said.
Punu Singh, 26, had died after reportedly inhaling some gas during duty hours.
Earlier, the UCIL management had offered a compensation of Rs 16.14 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased. But the offer was rejected by the family of the deceased and the agitating union leaders.
