Police arrested a man on Wednesday morning after he murdered his wife in West Bengal’s Gangarampur town.
The suspect, Rintu Ghosh, triggered panic among residents in the Narayanpur locality. He walked out of a nearby temple carrying his wife’s severed head and a knife.
Shocked neighbors immediately retreated in fear as Ghosh emerged holding the weapons. They promptly alerted the Gangarampur police station about the horrific scene.
Officers arrived at the spot quickly and took Ghosh into custody. Authorities recovered both the severed head and torso of the victim, identified as Seema Sarkar.
Investigators are currently questioning Ghosh to determine the exact motive behind the crime. Neighbors suspect that an ongoing marital dispute might have triggered the incident.
Ghosh previously worked as a government bus conductor before staying home full-time. A relative revealed that Ghosh recently exhibited unusual behavior and engaged in quasi-tantric practices.
The couple has two sons, leaving the local community deeply disturbed by the sudden violence. Police continue their investigation to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the killing.
