JFC to travel to Kolkata on February 26 for February 27 clash against East Bengal FC
Jamshedpur, February 25: Jamshedpur FC head coach Owen Coyle addressed the media at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Tuesday ahead of his side’s crucial Indian Super League (ISL) clash against East Bengal FC. The Men of Steel will travel to Kolkata on February 26 for their February 27 encounter.
Speaking about his team’s recent performances, Coyle stressed that winning matches remains the top priority in a tightly contested league. “It is very difficult to win any game in the ISL. You just need to look at the league table to understand how thin the margins are. We’ve won both our games and kept clean sheets, which is not easy. The players have done a fantastic job,” he said.
While acknowledging that fans enjoy high-scoring victories, Coyle pointed out that such results are not always possible. He admitted that the team could have created more chances against Punjab FC but credited the opposition for defending well. “In a short season, it is paramount to collect as many wins as possible. We are working on being more clinical and improving our set-pieces in training,” he added.
On facing East Bengal FC, Coyle described the Kolkata giants as a “fantastic club with proud history and heritage.” He noted their strong squad, including key foreign signings, and emphasized the need for JFC to maintain a solid defensive base while creating more scoring opportunities.
Midfielder Pronay Halder also shared his thoughts, calling East Bengal an “exciting team” and the upcoming venue a great arena to play in. “If you want to be champions, you must face strong teams. We are focusing on ourselves and will play with a winning mentality and positive mindset,” he said.
Jamshedpur FC will look to continue their winning run when they take on East Bengal in what promises to be a high-intensity encounter.
