Vote without fear, pressure or inducement : Jamshedpur DC tells voters

Jamshedpur: With the Lok Sabha elections approaching, the District Election Officer, Ananya Mittal, and Senior Superintendent of Police, Kishore Kaushal, embarked on a confidence-building mission in Gautadih Tola, a vulnerable area of Jamshedpur Sadar Block. Their aim was to reassure voters of a safe and fair voting process devoid of any intimidation or coercion.

District officials engaged with voters from booth numbers 69 and 70, urging them to exercise their franchise fearlessly on May 25, the day of polling. They emphasized the importance of each vote in upholding the democratic process and encouraged voters to cast their ballots independently, without succumbing to external pressures or inducements.

Emphasizing the importance of a secure voting environment, the Senior Superintendent of Police assured tight security arrangements at all polling stations. This measure aimed to instill confidence among voters and ensure a peaceful electoral process.

Efforts were made to ensure that every eligible voter residing in the area, comprising approximately 60 households, was registered on the voter list. Voters were informed about the delivery of voter slips door-to-door by Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Additionally, they were briefed on the alternative identity proofs recognized by the Election Commission, enabling them to cast their votes even in the absence of a voter slip.

Voters were informed that apart from the voter slip, they could utilize alternative identity proofs such as Driving License, Passport, Government or Public Sector Undertaking IDs, Bank/Post Office Passbook, PAN Card, MNREGA Job Card, Health Insurance Smart Card, Pension Document, and Aadhaar Card for voting purposes.

The confidence-building exercise was conducted in the presence of various officials including City SP Mukesh Lunayat, ADM Law and Order Ananth Kumar, ADM (SOR) Mahendra Kumar, Director NEP Ajay Sao, DTO Dhananjay, CO Jamshedpur Sadar Manoj Kumar, Deputy Election Officer Priyanka Singh, District Public Relations Officer Panchanan Oraon, Executive Engineer Laljit Ram from the Building Construction Department, as well as DSPs and police station in-charges.
