Jamshedpur: Kamal Bali, President and Managing Director, Volvo Group India Pvt Ltd highlighted Volvo’s commitment to sustainability both in India and globally.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of CII Manufacturing Conclave East in Jamshedpur on Friday, Bali emphasized Volvo’s research on hydrogen-powered trucks, stating, “We are exploring how to run trucks by directly injecting hydrogen into the tank, and soon we will begin production of such trucks in India.”
Bali further stated, “We plan to increase the work orders for industries in Jharkhand, particularly in the Adityapur Industrial Area, due to the exceptional quality of work delivered by companies here.”
Discussing economic growth prospects, Bali projected, “The country’s economy will grow tenfold, leading to expansion across all industries. It’s not just about numbers; industries must also focus on gender equality, women’s employment, climate change, sustainability, renewable energy, reuse, waste management, and the circular economy.”
Regarding Volvo’s investments and technological advancements, Bali revealed, “We currently employ 5000 people in one unit alone, with ongoing work in technology and renewable energy across India.” He added, “Volvo has introduced LMG trucks and is advancing towards using hydrogen cells to power vehicles. We have developed a method to directly inject hydrogen into vehicle tanks, and these vehicles will be launched soon.”
