Jamshedpur: A new mobile application called UTS on Mobile was launched at Tatanagar. At a function senior DCM PK Sahu launched the new facility. The app, developed by the Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS), is available for both Android and Windows smartphones free of cost.

With the use of app passengers can book unreserved tickets through the app within 2km radius of the station. The ticket has to be booked before the train’s departure time. After completing the booking process, passengers will get an e-ticket that can be shown to the ticket examiner. The app will also enable the issue and renewal of season and platform tickets and help maintain the users’ booking history.

For use the app, passengers would have to get registered by providing mobile number, name, city, class, ticket type, number of passenger and routes. Upon successful registration, a railway wallet (R-Wallet) will be created automatically with zero balance for the passenger.

The app would not only help to avoid rush at the unreserved ticket counters but also reduce paper work. The app would eliminate the necessity of carrying a physical ticket by a passenger.
