Zero Naxal terror: PM Modi marks historic Diwali with Bastar forces

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Diwali with security personnel at the Karanpur CoBRA Operations Base on Sunday.
He credited firm policies and strong resolve for breaking Naxal funding and ending decades of violence in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region.
Modi highlighted that strategic decisions dismantled counterfeit currency networks, effectively stopping weapon supplies and recruitment drives across the country.
The Prime Minister praised the security forces for achieving a total victory against Maoist insurgency through their immense sacrifice and valour.
He noted that for the first time in forty-seven years, zero CRPF soldiers lost their lives on duty in the region over the past year.
Calling Diwali 2026 historic, Modi declared that every Indian district has finally become free from Naxal terror and constant fear.
He criticized previous governments for leaving Naxalism unaddressed and treating the violent insurgency as an incurable national ailment.
Modi recalled past deadly attacks, including the 2010 Dantewada ambush where seventy-six CRPF personnel lost their lives.
He emphasized that robust internal security prevents external enemies from destabilizing the country’s peace and territorial integrity.
The Prime Minister described every serving soldier as his own family member while expressing national gratitude to the armed forces.
This visit marks the thirteenth consecutive year that Modi has celebrated the festival of lights alongside defense and security personnel.
Last year, the Prime Minister observed the festival with naval personnel stationed aboard INS Vikrant off the Goa coast.
Security personnel in Bastar warmly received the Prime Minister during his operational base visit on Sunday afternoon.
The region has now entered a transformative phase of economic growth and infrastructure development following the end of insurgency.
Citizens across Bastar joined the celebrations as peace returned to their villages after long decades of bloodshed.
