Chaibasa, Jan 16: Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. L. Murugan, commenced his three-day review tour of the Aspirational District Program (ADP) in Jharkhand on Thursday. The tour, spanning from January 16 to 18, aims to assess developmental initiatives under the ADP and Aspirational Block Program (ABP).
Upon his arrival at Ranchi Airport, the Minister was welcomed by Akhil Kumar Mishra, Additional Director General of PIB and Central Bureau of Communication, Ranchi, along with officials from Doordarshan, Akashvani and the Chaibasa District Administration. Dr. Murugan also participated in the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) signature awareness campaign organized by CBC Ranchi at the airport.
Speaking to Doordarshan News, Dr. Murugan outlined the agenda for his visit, highlighting the key activities planned in Chaibasa under the Akash District and Block Program.
On Friday, the Minister is scheduled to visit the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Jagannathpur and the Cage Fisheries in Karanjia, followed by a site inspection at the SAIL mine. The final day of his tour will include an interaction with district officials and department heads to review the indicators of ADP and ABP, ensuring that the district’s development parameters are effectively addressed.
Launched in 2018 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the ADP aims to accelerate progress in 112 backward districts across India by focusing on health, education, agriculture, financial inclusion and infrastructure. The program has positively impacted millions of lives by addressing regional disparities.
In December 2024, Dr. Murugan visited Palamu, another aspirational district, where he reviewed development initiatives and participated in a workshop on good governance. “The Aspirational District Program is a cornerstone of India’s mission to achieve holistic development by 2047,” remarked the Minister.
