Jewellery Cache Unearthed in Ramgarh Robbery Case; Mastermind’s Kin Arrested

Ramgarh (IANS): The Ramgarh Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) has recovered a significant portion of looted jewellery buried underground at the residence of the robbery’s mastermind. On Monday, officials confirmed the arrest of the main accused’s wife and son-in-law, marking a critical turn in the investigation of the Shiv Shankar Jewellers heist.

The “Underground” Discovery

Following the daylight robbery on April 21 at Chitarpur Rajrappa More, the SIT, led by DSP Chandan Vats, intensified its surveillance. Acting on a tip-off received on May 10, police interrogated the family of the kingpin, Subhani Ansari alias Lalka.

The interrogation led police to the residence of Lalka’s wife, Nazma Khatun, where they conducted an excavation. Buried beneath the floor, officers discovered:

• Gold Ornaments: Approximately 49 grams, including necklaces and earrings.
• Silver Ornaments: Approximately 1,350 grams, including bangles, bracelets, and rings.
• Total Seizure: 134 individual pieces of jewellery.

Key Arrests and Investigation

Ramgarh Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Lunayat identified the arrested kin as:

• Nazma Khatun (40): Wife of the mastermind.
• Shehnawaz Hussain (24): Son-in-law of the mastermind.

This follows the earlier arrest of seven gang members on April 24. While a substantial portion of the loot and the weapons used in the crime are now in police custody, raids continue at multiple locations to nab the remaining absconding suspects.

Context of the Crime

The brazen armed robbery at Rajrappa More had triggered widespread panic among the local business community. SP Lunayat stated that the investigation is now focused on identifying other associates who may have helped conceal the stolen property across the state.
