Jamshedpur: Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) is all set to get the 600 odd government hand-pumps in its area of operation repaired ahead of the summer season this year. A majority of the handpumps are not in proper working condition, the company officials found out recently.
Company sources said the contract for the said repair work has been given to Kumhari Visthapit Samiti and Turamdih Berojgar Samiti. The work is to be carried out at a cost of Rs 10 lakh.
A total of 22 villages have been selected for the purpose of repair work. They include Turamdih, Talsa, Nandup, Dhodanga, Purihasa, Mahuldih and Kumhari.
In view of the proposed work, the company management representatives met the villagers on Saturday. The company officials included N Patil, Girish Gupta and RK Tiwary while the villagers included Chandrayi Besra, Man Singh, Soren Fagu Tudu, Sitaram Mahato, Arun Nayak, Karu Hembram and Magdho Diggi.
