Jamshedpur, Feb 25: A trailer driver was shot at by three scooter-borne criminals. The incident took place near NH-33 in Dhalbhumgarh in Ghatsila subdivision on Wednesday night. The driver identified as Pintu Chaudhury (50) has sustained bullet injuries in his body.
A resident of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, the victim was first taken to Ghatsila subdivisional hospital to be shifted to MGM medical hospital and finally shifted to RIMS on Thursday morning.
The victim was carrying a consignment from Kolkata to Chaibasa negotiating through NH-33. Late night, he stopped the trailer at Malwa Dhawa in Dhalbhumgarh. But as the eatery had closed by that time, both the driver and cleaner decided to cook their food themselves.
They went to a place close to a forest stretch where they started cooking food on a kerosene stove they had carried along.
As the busy cooking the food, three scooter-borne criminals reached there. One of the three attacked the driver and demanded the driver to hand over whatever cash he had. When the victim resisted, another criminal who was standing behind fished out a pistol and fired a shot at him from close range.
The bullet hit, causing the driver to fall down. As he fell, the criminals took out Rs 15,000 and the mobile phone from his pocket and fled the scene
OC, Dhalbhumgarh, SK Tiwary confirmed about the gun-shot loot at Dhalbhumgarh. ” As per our information three criminals have looted Rs 15,000 and a mobile phone from a trailer driver having shot at him. We are taking care of the injured driver. We are also trying to detect the criminals involved in the gruesome crime, ” said Tiwary.
